Myths vs Realities of UPSC Civil Service IAS Exam

Myth no 1.  UPSC & MPSC is Very Hard Exam
Reality:  UPSC & MPSC both are very easy. They are Based on 12th std Level

Myth no 2.  Syllabus of UPSC & MPSC is very Lengthy
Reality:  Yes it is ! But with the help of Proper Handwritten Notes you can Finish Entire Syllabus in 2-3 Days

Myth no 3.  For UPSC & MPSC i need at least 10 hrs of Study.
Reality: No, only 1 hour a day is sufficient, if you know where & how to study.

Myth no 4. Preparation in Marathi / Hindi will help me in Deeper Understanding.
Reality: Both Exams are Set for English Readers only. Later they translate it into Local Language. Moreover if you prepare only in Marathi you will stuck with state Level exams only. IBPS / SSC / Railways will then be far cry.

Myth no 5. Very HiFi English is Needed for UPSC / MPSC
Reality:  Only Basic English of Level 10th is more than Sufficient.

Myth no 6.  I have to be Book Worm to crack Exam
Reality: They need dynamic personality who can lead and work in team.

Myth no 7.  I have to read 5-6 books for proper understanding of each subject
Reality: You don't have to be Phd in any subject. Only One Well Written book is Sufficient.

Myth no 8.  Only Books are Sufficient to crack exam
Reality: Now a days they ask every question linked with current events, so you must keep pace with current events & online contents.

Myth no 9.  CSAT is Very Difficult.
Reality: Even 12th std student can solve this. More ever now it is of qualifying nature.

Myth no 11. Only BE, MBBS Students can Qualify
Reality:  Last Year 60 % who qualified were from non professional Courses

Myth no 12.  UPSC & MPSC are Totally Different Exams.
Reality:  UPSC & MPSC are 95 % same. In preliminary they are 99% same. Nowadays they need UPSC Level Aspirants. So Don't stuck with MPSC only.

And Last ...Myth no 13. If I will have to take 1-2 year full dropout to prepare, then only i can crack UPSC / MPSC
Reality: No Need to Waste years in preparation. Remember most of those who Cracked exam were preparing from 11th standard.
